Growing Your Own Medicine

Learn how to grow and use your own medicinal herbs in this inspiring class for gardeners of all levels. We’ll cover easy favorites like calendula, chamomile, lemon balm, tulsi, yarrow, and rosemary, along with practical tips for planting, care, and harvest. You’ll also discover simple ways to use these herbs in cooking, teas, and gentle remedies for sleep, digestion, and everyday wellness. Whether you’re planting a full garden or a few containers, you’ll leave feeling confident and inspired to create your own backyard apothecary this spring.

Introduction to Composting with Worms

Join John York of Nature’s Footprint for an engaging introduction to vermicomposting—turning everyday kitchen scraps into rich, living compost. Using the locally made Worm Factory 360™, this class will guide you through the essentials of setup, feeding, bedding materials, and moisture management, along with the simple science behind raising healthy, productive worms. A wonderful first step toward more sustainable, garden-friendly living.

Botanical Dye Class: Bundle Dyeing with Silk

Join us for a creative afternoon at Christianson’s Nursery as we explore the art of botanical bundle dyeing. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design and dye your own silk scarf using homegrown and wildcrafted plant materials. While your scarf steams, we’ll cover the basics of natural dyeing—how to prep fabric, which plants to use, and how to continue at home.

You’ll leave with your finished scarf and a detailed handout to guide future projects. Additional pre-treated scarves and bandanas will be available for purchase.

Kokedama Workshop

In this guided workshop, you’ll learn how to transform a simple plant into a sculptural, soil-wrapped piece bound in moss and twine. Whether displayed on a dish or hung in your home, kokedama bring a natural, organic feel that perfectly embraces the beauty of imperfection—what the Japanese call wabi sabi.

Pansies & Paint: A Garden Workshop

Join us for a lovely summer afternoon at Christianson’s Nursery, where garden and art come together. We are delighted to welcome Brenna Estrada, author of Pansies: How to Grow, Reimagine, and Create Beauty with Pansies and Violas, alongside Sarah Simon, the beloved watercolor artist behind The Mint Gardener.
