SAVE SKAGIT FARM VENUES
Skagit County is currently creating a new code that is far more restrictive than neighboring Whatcom and Snohomish counties. This new proposed code will reduce the number of events that farm venues can host by 50% making it difficult or impossible for farm venues to stay in business. If the proposed code does go through, the changes could go into effect as early as 2025.
Our Skagit Farm Venues group is currently working on a code counter-proposal. Please help us spread the word by following our “Skagit Farm Venues” social media accounts, visiting & sharing the website, and voicing your concerns on the matter with your contacts.
There will be a Skagit County Planning Meeting on July 25, 2023, at 6 pm at the Skagit County Hearing Room (1800 Continental Place, Mount Vernon, WA 98273) that is open to public attendance and comments. It’s crucial that farm venue owners, event vendors, and all supporters attend this meeting and voice our concerns! (Even if you don’t feel comfortable speaking, your attendance will show support.) Decisions on county code changes will be made as a result of this meeting!
